Live Music in San Antonio This Week: Vinyl Williams, Retro Cowgirl, D.R.U.G.S. and more

From Colombian pop-rock to a post-hardcore supergroup, San Antonio music fans have plenty of touring shows to consider this week. Turns out there are also at least two performances by local acts worth serious attention — gigs by post-punk outfit Sex Mex and high-concept rockers Retro Cowgirl.

Musical version of Disney's Aladdin will swoop in to San Antonio's Majestic Theatre from Feb. 7-12

From the producer of The Lion King, another beloved Disney musical will take the Majestic stage in February. With music by Tony and Academy Award winner Alan Menken and spectacular set design, complete with disappearing acts and flying carpet rides, Disney's Aladdin promises an enchanting experience for all ages.

Study names San Antonio-based H-E-B the nation's top grocery retailer over Amazon

A new consumer ranking has named Texas' H-E-B the nation's best grocery retailer, knocking online behemoth Amazon out of the top spot, which it held for the past two years. Consumer research firm Dunnhumby on Tuesday released its sixth annual Retailer Preference Index, which sorts through customer surveys and financial reports to rank U.S. grocery retailers. The U.K.-based company placed H-E-B on top of its 2023 iteration of the list, while Costco and Amazon took second and third places, respectively.

Action-packed play The Hero Twins: Blood Race debuts at the Magik Theatre this week

This Saturday, San Antonio’s Magik Theatre will kick off the new year with its latest production, The Hero Twins: Blood Race. The play, written by Latino playwright and educator Ramón Esquivel, promises to be one of the Magik's most action-packed productions to date.
