Several Texas delegates coalesce behind Kamala Harris after Joe Biden abandons reelection

WASHINGTON — After President Joe Biden’s surprise withdrawal from the presidential race Sunday, several of Texas’ Democratic delegates were rallying behind Vice President Kamala Harris to secure the party’s nomination ahead of what will likely be the first contested political convention in decades. However, others — including at least one Texas Democrat in Congress — urged a partywide discussion on who represents the best path forward as they seek to defeat former President Donald Trump.
