Former Uvalde schools police chief indicted over response to Robb Elementary shooting
A Uvalde County grand jury has indicted former school district police Chief Pete Arredondo and another former district officer on felony child-endangerment charges related to the 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School, the Express-News reports. The indictments are the first criminal charges brought against law-enforcement officials for their sluggish and widely criticized response to the shooting. The incident, which took the lives of 19 students and two teachers, is Texas' deadliest school shooting.
