Former Bexar County jail inmate files federal suit alleging guards allowed him to be beaten

A former Bexar County Jail inmate has filed a federal lawsuit alleging guards at the facility kept open the door of his holding cell, allowing other inmates to enter and give him two separate beatings. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in San Antonio, accuses the county of negligence and violating the civil rights of the plaintiff, Richard Robert Lee Gomez, who alleges the assaults took place Jan. 7, 2023.
