Upscale pizzeria to open next month at old NOLA location near St. Mary's Strip
An upscale pizzeria concept is taking over the old NOLA Brunch and Beignets spot off the St. Mary's Strip. Italian eatery Primo's will launch April 10 as the latest tenant of 720 E. Mistletoe Ave. The spot is the brainchild of Michael Wilkerson, previously an assistant general manager for Ida Claire in San Antonio, and Nels Christensen, former corporate chef for the Southern dining chain. Christensen also worked in San Francisco and Seattle alongside James Beard Award winners before returning to SA to be closer to family. Primo's will be open for lunch and dinner, serving up not just gourmet pies but specialties such as chicken parmesan on a large garlic-knot bun, Wilkerson told the Current.
