San Antonio police arrest suspect for alleged threat to kill mayor over her stance on Project Marvel
San Antonio police have arrested a suspect on charges that the person threatened the life of Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones over her desire to pause negotiations for Project Marvel, a proposed sports-and-entertainment district that would include a new Spurs arena. SAPD officials said officers arrested the suspect at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening after receiving a tip that the individual commented "we need to kill the mayor" during a discussion on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
