San Antonio Spurs will open season against Dallas Mavericks in historic matchup

No. 2 draft pick Dylan Harper and the San Antonio Spurs will take on No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday, Oct. 22, for both teams' season-opening game, NBA officials said Tuesday. The historic matchup will mark only the second time since 1966 that the top two picks in the same draft will face each other in their first career regular-season games. It's also the third consecutive season the Spurs will open their season with an away game in Dallas.
