The Overtime Theater is doing admirable work by producing the works of local playwrights at an affordable price, something that expands the appeal of the art form to regular folks, not just the New Yorker festival set. The Perfect Gift — written by Susan Cain McQuilkin and running at the Overtime through the end of the month — uses Christmas as a framework to explore what we do to get by and survive everyday life, something that can feel insurmountable.
