San Antonio's Moses Rose's dispute likely headed to court after owner rejects $5.26 million buyout

by Michael Karlis

The owner of Moses Rose's Hideaway, the downtown San Antonio bar slated for eminent domain takeover, said he's declining a $5.26 million buyout offer from city officials — a move that likely means the dispute is headed to court. On Friday, the city — on behalf of the Alamo Trust and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) — made a "best and final offer" for the bar located in the footprint of the planned $150 million Alamo Visitors Center. "Despite no legal obligation to do so, the new offer takes into account a business valuation requested by bar owner Vince Cantu and funded by the GLO," the Alamo Trust said in a press release.
