Port San Antonio board approves next step to build $275 million high-tech tower

Port San Antonio's board of directors voted Tuesday afternoon to spend $7.5 million to finalize architectural plans, a budget and timeline for a wing-shaped, 12-story office tower that will be a crown jewel for the former Kelly Air Force base. Port officials want to complete the $275 million structure by 2028, adding an abundance of high-end office space for the industrial park. Its leadership sees the 300,000-square-foot building, dubbed Innovation Tower, as a major step toward attracting more advanced-technology businesses.
