Gov. Greg Abbott continues his veto campaign, axing 21 more bills Friday amid property tax impasse

by William Melhado and Patrick Svitek, The Texas Tribune

Gov. Greg Abbott has continued to follow through with his perceived threat to veto a large number of  bills in the absence of a House-Senate compromise on property taxes. As of Friday afternoon, the governor had vetoed 31 bills in the past four days, most of which originated in the Senate, adding fuel to his feud with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. The common theme in his latest vetoes, 21 of which were announced Friday: The bills can wait until after lawmakers figure out property taxes.
