Feds demand Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw's campaign explain illegal donations

Federal regulators are demanding that U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas explain why his reelection campaign took nearly $19,000 in illegal campaign donations during the third quarter of 2023 without returning them. The Federal Election Commission, which regulates campaign finance, sent a Jan. 20 letter giving the campaign treasurer for Crenshaw, a Republican who represents the Houston area, until Feb. 24 to explain the contributions.
